Lightweight Euro-format pallets

Where the pallet itself is part of the freight cost. Reduced-section 1200 x 800 pallets for lighter goods, single movements and jobs where handling weight and volumetric charging matter more than service life.

The trade you are making

A lightweight pallet is a deliberate compromise. You give up service life, repairability and load capacity, and you get back tare weight, easier manual handling and often a better answer to volumetric or weight-banded freight pricing. That trade is sensible for some consignments and reckless for others, which is why we ask what is going on the pallet before quoting.

Sensible uses

  • Light, bulky, boxed goods — packaging, textiles, empty containers.
  • Single, one-way movements where nobody expects the pallet to return or to be reused.
  • Air or courier freight priced on volumetric weight, where every kilogram of tare is charged.
  • Sites with a lot of manual handling, where lifting a 25 kg pallet all day is a genuine problem.

Where we would talk you out of it

  • Dense or point-loaded goods: machinery, liquids, tiles, fixings.
  • Block-stacked storage, or racking without full-length support.
  • Repeat-use loops, where the whole-life cost of a heavier pallet is lower.
  • Anything you plan to send more than once — a standard Euro-format pallet or plastic Euro pallet will usually cost less over its life.

Construction and load

Lightweight is a category, not a standard: board thickness, block section and construction vary widely between products. We will not publish a load rating, because the honest answer depends on your goods, packing, overhang and handling. Send the load details and we will say whether a lightweight pallet is appropriate at all — including when the answer is no.

Export movements

Lightweight timber pallets are still solid wood packaging. If they cross between Great Britain and the EU they are expected to meet ISPM 15 treatment and marking requirements, exactly like any other timber pallet. Read GB to EU and EU to GB movements and ask us about the heat-treated option.

No load rating published

We do not quote a safe working load for lightweight pallets on this page. Any figure would be meaningless without knowing your goods, packing and handling method.

Not EPAL, and not a substitute

Lightweight pallets carry no EPAL marks and are not part of any exchange pool. If a customer specification asks for EPAL 1, a lightweight pallet does not satisfy it.

Quote for lightweight Euro-format

Tell us the goods, weight per pallet and how they are packed. We will confirm whether lightweight is genuinely suitable.

Give us an email address or a telephone number — either is fine.

Outward code alone is fine at this stage.

Sales start at 100 pallets; collections from 10.
