Unbranded Euro-format timber pallets
The same 1200 x 800 footprint and block construction, without pool marks. The right answer for a great deal of domestic and one-way work — provided everybody in the chain describes it accurately.
Euro-format is a footprint, not a brand
An unbranded Euro-format pallet is built to fit where Euro pallets fit: 1200 x 800 on the deck, block construction underneath, four-way entry for a truck or a pallet trolley. What it does not carry is the EPAL brand, the licence code, the control staple or the pool status that comes with them.
That distinction has commercial consequences. Unbranded pallets are generally not accepted in EPAL exchange, so they suit one-way movements, internal logistics, pallets that will not come back, and customers who care about the footprint rather than the pool.
How we describe them, and why it matters
We call these unbranded or unstamped Euro-format pallets. We never call them EPAL, cheap EPAL, EPAL-style or Euro EPAL, because an unmarked pallet is not an EPAL pallet and describing it as one misleads whoever buys it next. If a supplier offers you “unstamped EPAL”, that phrase alone is a reason to look harder — see EPAL or Euro-format?
Where they work well
- Domestic distribution within Great Britain on established routes.
- One-way despatch where the pallet is not expected back.
- Internal movement between sites, or buffer stock for seasonal peaks.
- Racking and trailer plans already built around the Euro footprint.
Where they do not
- Any arrangement that requires pool exchange or EPAL acceptance at the receiving end.
- Customer specifications that call for EPAL marks — check the purchase order wording before ordering unbranded.
- Cross-border movements where you have not separately confirmed ISPM 15 treatment and marking. Absence of EPAL marks says nothing about plant-health status either way; see ISPM 15 explained.
Condition and construction
Timber section, board thickness and moisture content vary between production runs and sources, so we describe construction on the quotation for the stock actually offered rather than publishing a blanket specification. If you have a written specification of your own, send it and we will tell you plainly whether we can match it.
Never described as EPAL
No EPAL brand mark, no licence code, no control staple. Anyone reselling these pallets should describe them as unbranded Euro-format.
